Hi, I am Frances Anderton. I tell stories and distill ideas about design, architecture and the cityscape of Los Angeles, through print, broadcast media, exhibitions and public events. For many years I hosted DnA: Design and Architecture radio show for KCRW public radio station, and I produced Warren Olney’s current affairs shows “Which Way, LA?” and “To The Point.” Now my main focus is housing. I am the author of the award-winning book Common Ground: Multifamily Housing in Los Angeles, and co-author of Awesome and Affordable: Great Housing Now!, a multimedia project produced by Friends of Residential Treasures: Los Angeles (FORT: LA). I, FORT: LA and Wyota Workshop created an installation for the US Pavilion at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, entitled The Angeleno Porch: Six Social Spaces Shaping L.A.’s Affordable Housing. It illustrates the theme PORCH: An Architecture of Generosity. I am a 2025 Santa Monica Artist Fellow. ![]()
