FRANCES ANDERTON

Writer, Producer and Radio Host — Public Speaker — Consultant

Who She Is

Frances Anderton is the host of DnA: Design and Architecture, broadcast on 89.9 KCRW and KCRW.com, and the only show radio show in America focused exclusively on design and architecture. She is also the longtime producer of Warren Olney's daily current affairs shows, Which Way, LA? and To The Point. She is the LA Editor for Dwell magazine and writes for many other publications, including the New York Times. She regularly hosts and moderates events dealing with the built environment and public affairs. She is currently at work on a book about design and the media.

How She Got Here

Anderton was raised in Bath, England, she studied architecture in London and moved to LA in 1991 to edit an architecture magazine. She sidestepped into radio when she heard Warren Olney's show, "Which Way, LA?," -- a uniquely thoughtful and relevant show, launched after the Rodney King riots, that brought together disparate voices to discuss the region's common challenges. This put her on the path of forging constructive dialogue, about politics, design and, at times, the intersection of the two. Her goal was to build bridges between the design world and the public, efforts that found expression in her radio show, DnA, launched in 2002.
